Introducing the Hakurei League – the latest competitive Touhou event for all levels of play!

 

What is the Hakurei League?

The Hakurei League is a new Touhou competition that gives players of all skill levels the chance to play in regular competitive 1v1 matches.

 

The event will see players split into skill divisions of 5 players each, where they will play in weekly matches over the course of a month. The winner of each division at the end of the month will get the chance to move into a higher division. The winner of the highest division will be crowned the champion for the first season of the league!

 

The Hakurei League will be a chance for players of all levels to play in a competitive tournament setting, something that’s rare within the Touhou competitive scene.

 

What games will be played?

There will be leagues for every Windows Touhou game (Touhou 6 onwards) in two different categories—survival and scoring. 

 

In the survival league, players must try to clear the game while using as few resources as possible. Bombs, lives lost and other game specific resources (such as borders in Touhou 7 and releases in Touhou 16) will add to the resources used and result in a lower score. 

 

In Lunatic scoring, players must play the game while scoring as many points as possible. There are unique systems and strategies in each game for increasing score, so each game brings new challenges.

 

When will the Hakurei League start?

Matches for the Hakurei League start on the 1st of June, and the first season of the league will continue for the entirety of the month. Season 2 will begin afterwards, with even more competitive matches to play in and enjoy.
