The typical skies. 

Beyond it lies a vast expanse of stars.

 

On Earth, the third planet of the solar system, the girls of Gensokyo quietly go about their daily lives. 

 

The starry sky we see is just a tiny fraction of the universe.

Such that when the Winter Triangle appears in our field of view, the Summer Triangle is nowhere to be seen.

 

In the first volume of “Touhou OutSide the Earthsphere” (publicised in Autumn 2024), various Japanese Touhou fans illustrated their visions of the starry sky and the cosmos.  

 

Now with this second volume, we’ve opened the doors for both Japanese and English-speaking communities, resulting in a work that embodies even more of the “freedom” that space represents.

 

Skies, stars that could not be seen from Japan alone, alongside the girls who reside in Gensokyo.

Now, with the worlds united, let us witness this hidden universe and the beautiful, yet cruel world of Gensokyo.

 

 

With over 52 participants from both Japanese and English-speaking backgrounds, the second volume of the Touhou space anthology, “Touhou OutSide the Earthsphere 2nd Project”, will be released at the 12th Hakurei Shrine Autumn Reitaisai on Sunday October 19th, 2025.
